| Our club welcomes all classes of radio-controlled sailboats, and
during 2001 we raced as a combined fleet using a handicapping system
which attempted to compensate for the differing performance of our
classes. M3SC members who sailed other classes of
boats that year subsequently obtained CR 914s, and M3SC now
races as a strictly
CR 914 one-design racing fleet. If new members wish to race other classes
of boats they already own, however, we will also conduct races for a
separate handicap fleet, and if there are three or more boats of a single
class they may race as a separate one-design fleet. To see a list of the boats
in our fleet at present, click here.

The
914 millimeter-long
CR
914 is a high-performance racing sloop which is based on
the design of the International America's Cup Class. This entry-level
racing class is one of the largest and fastest growing one-design
classes in the United States. The hull is molded ABS plastic and the
boat can be purchased from either of two U.S. builders or
built from
a kit which includes spars, sails and electronics. An outstanding class
organization and carefully written class rules ensure that all boats of
this class are effectively identical in performance and that winning
depends exclusively on sailing skill. By showing that she can perform
well in all conditions, ghosting remarkably well in extremely light air
and coping admirably with winds in excess of 20 knots without reefing,
the '914 won over the owners of other classes of boats during the 2001
season, and they switched to CR 914s. Click

CR 914.
